Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art, nicknamed “Binoculars on the hill” for its appearance. The museum is itself an artwork designed by the architect Isozaki Arata. Its collection of the world’s great paintings includes works of the Impressionists as well as ukiyo-e. This summer, some of those holdings were opened to picture-taking. The pictures taken can even be posted on SNS! For our program, Anne Crescini of the USA experienced this new way to enjoy the museum: photographing famous paintings.
